Madarasah Alsagoff is an all girls’ school that was started by the Middle Eastern businessman and philantrophist Mr Syed Mohamed Alsagoff in accordance to one the the 5 principles of Islam, which is to donate to charity.
It was founded in 1912 and basically the curriculum does not differ from other public schools other than two additional subjects, the study of the Arabic language Jawi and Islamic studies. The students are also permitted to wear the tudung (Malay for headscarf) whereas it is banned in all other public schools.
